MHK Project Updates

Winter 2012 Update

The Virginia State Supreme Court has decided to hear our appeal on our court case. This is great news and an answer to prayer! Nonetheless, our hope is not in the court system, but that God will provide for His church however He sees fit.

The court has not yet notified us regarding when they will hear the case. Continue to pray for God's favor!

Summer 2011 Update

In May, a court ruling blocked our ability to build a church on our 30 acre property. We are appealing (along with the Town of Leesburg) to the Virginia Supreme Court and should find out if they will hear our case by the end of the year.  Regardless, Cornerstone continues to grow. We fed over 3500 people at our annual picnic on June 5, and are close to capacity at our current campus every weekend. Pray that God would give us wisdom as we seek His will regarding the future of Cornerstone!

Spring 2011 Update

Last May, the Town Council of Leesburg voted to rezone our 30 Acre Property to allow us to build a new church facility on that site. A judge has now ruled that the Town did not have the right to rezone our property, which means we are not currently able to move forward with the building project as planned. This ruling has implications for several projects in Leesburg, in addition to many more projects throughout Virginia. Pastor Gary, with the counsel of the church board, will consider the legal and legislative implications and make a decision by this weekend regarding how we will proceed. We will share that decision with the congregation during our weekend worship services.

Winter 2011 Update

Please be in prayer for the Making Him Known building project as we carefully handle a lawsuit brought against the town regarding our new church building. We should know more after the court case this spring, and are prayerfully awaiting what God has planned for us.

Spring 2010

Project Update:
We have great news! The Leesburg Planning Commission and Town Council both voted unanimously to approve our plans. Our next step will be to obtain a Site Plan Permit. Pray that God will continue to guide us through this long and sometimes complicated process!

Phase 1 Our phase 1 plan includes an 1100 seat sanctuary, twice as much room for our infant and children’s ministries, office space, room for our Heaven Sent Christian Preschool, a large café, and large auditoriums for our youth.

Give: You can give to the Building Project weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Just write Making Him Known or Building Project on the check memo. You can also give online from our church website, www.CornerstoneChapel.net.

While you are at Cornerstone for a service, stop by the Building Kiosk. We have the Making Him Known Project Brochure with a DVD of the Building Announcement service (4/27/08), the Celebration service (5/18/08), and the architectural fly over of the property. You can also pick up a Making Him Known giving envelope that you can use for your donation and as a reminder.
